I only did one SQ flight on my CRTW (and I had similar "wanna go SQ" urges
). Also, SIN-JNB on a 777 probably wasn't a very good example as it's a very late night flight where the meal service was a light meal and breakfast. However, based on my other experiences with NZ, if I was in your position I'd quite happily do ORD-LAX-LHR instead.
