Did you notify them of your intention to drop the last leg when you headed for the rental cars? AND re-confirm your return flights? If not, make the call now or you may have a nasty surprise when you try to do the return!
The problem there was that the next flight to Lansing wasn't for another 5 hours, it would have been pointless to wait that long when the drive is only about 1:30. I didn't really expect NW to pick up the tab on the rental car (which is billed to my company anyway, so I wasn't paying for it in the first place), but if nothing else, it would be nice to get the miles for missed flight. If i got that and nothing else, I would be somewhat satisfied. Overall, I'm just upset that A) the gate agent on the 2nd flight gave 3 seats away of people they knew were connecting on an flight that had already arrived and B) we were sitting on the tarmac because our arrival gate got changed from 1 that was open to 1 that wasn't and lost a good 10 minutes in the process.

And BobH, to answer your question.. wanted to use the tram, it just pulled away as I got there. So in running from the gate to the tunnel to concourse B/C, I still beat it to the terminal station. 1st flight was supposed to get in at 4:28pm, didn't arrive until 5:01. 2nd flight was scheduled for 5:20, and of course that one left on time.
