Ahh, thanks for that. This explains why (under the old seating policy) with a gold in one PNR, that the other PNR was unable to access preferred seats. Basically the benefit which was advertised in the AskBA article saying this could happen was a lie. All is clear
(note to BA: that feature not working was really the only complaint I had against the old policy. Oh, and 63J being blocked as an "exit" seat making it impossible for a famliy of 4 to grab 63JK, 64JK)
