NetGear wireless network Q

Is anyone familiar with NetGear wireless network products? My router is working properly, but the wireless adapter & software on a household computer have suddenly failed (it was working properly for several weeks). It appears to be software problem. I've emailed support, but I'm not optimistic that they'll solve this one.

This other computer lost its connection to the router earlier today. So, I tried to start the NetGear software to reconnect. Strangely, the software starts running, but then quits on its own about two seconds later. I can see the GUI of the software for just an instant.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling twice -- same problem. I did a virus search, and nothing showed up. I have the Windows firewall operating in both computers. Other software on the computer runs properly.

Anyone have ideas on why this software is self-quitting right at the start?
