I agree with your above statement, but not sure I agree with the rest of your rant.

If you believe that our unionised workforce earns hundreds of thousands of pounds you really must be smoking something rather strong.

Whilst I agree that £300K is not a huge salary these days, it still would be earned by less than 1-2% of the UK labourforce, with the average UK wage under £30K. Are you suggesting that under £30K for "rank and file" is excessive? I would also suspect that most unionised workers are earning under the UK average wage.

Unions whilst having a lot of bad press these days certainly have their place in a civilised society. In fact many of the labour laws we now take for granted have their roots within the union movement.

Unions certainly have their problems, but your statement seems more rooted in rant rather than in fact.

This statement again is hyperbole as workers asking for higher wages cause inflation to rise by virtue of their request - i.e. wage increases generally directly correlate to increases in inflation.

For your statement to have weight, you should also therefore be asking for companies not to increase the prices of their products despite those same companies often producing and selling to the consumer exactly the same good!

Unfortunately, the fact of life is, in order for there to be success and for success to be rewarded not everybody can be successful. I firmly believe that those who work hard and take initiative to continuously improve will find success, one way or another.
I personally know several FT100 CEOs and I can assure you that more often than not, those same senior exectives care little about the workers with whom they employ contrary to what you may believe. Whilst those executives have worked hard all their lives, more often than not they are the same people who have stepped on others to ensure their quick rise to the top.

Getting to the top often has little to do with how good a person is and more often than not how good they are at out smarting others.
