We got this stamp when we flew from Stansted to Dublin. As you say, they put two stamps that take up an entire page and fill in your date of depature on one of them. Because we were heading to Belfast in a few days, the agent filled in the stamp to say that we had to leave by that date.

The problem is that there are no inspection points when you're driving. So we did have a little bit of stress spending a week in the Republic of Ireland after driving into and out of the UK with what looked like an expired passport stamp. However, we took the ferry back to Wales so it's not like anyone checked our passport on the way out.
