Did you ask with regards to the Plat Charge Card (£300 fee) or one of the free / dirt cheap cards? As posted above, I would be very surprised if Amex insisted on a 6-month hold period for those who had spent £300 on a Plat Charge Card. It is a different story for those who try to get the £30 reduced fee by getting a free Blue card.
I have called AmEx at least twice and asked about the free BA PP card while holding the Plat Charge. I have been told (every time) that I need to hold it for 6 months before the PP is free. So I finally applied around 2 weeks ago. After all that I'll probably get denied
