I recently stayed at the Meridien on Noumea and IdP on points. They upgraded me as a gold member to a Bungalow and it included free breakfast. The rooms are a bit dated, but still in a very good condition. It was one of the best stays I ever had with any *wood property. Excellent service all the way from check-in to the people who give you the boat for a paddle across the lagoon.
We loved it and were happy with every aspect of our trip.
Getting to IdP however is not that easy. Most people in the Meridien are Japanese honeymooners or other package tourist who have everything organized through their tour operator. You will land at Tounta airport on NC mainland. Then you will need to transfer 40 something km to Magenta airport (Hertz sometimes has great one way deal which are cheaper than a taxi) from where an Air Caledonie flight will take you to IdP. Air Caledonie does not have online booking so you need to purchase the tickets via E-Mail (works fine). Depending on when you arrive, you might have to stay overnight in Noumea, where the Meridien is a great choice to stay.
All in all, ^ ^ for Ile des Pins especially when they can guarantee an upgrade to a bungalow.
