more to the point... who cares? On SYD/MEL, SYD/BNE etc... an upgrade isn't worth much (nice if it's free, but really). Now if it was BNE/PER or SYD/PER or something... yep, I could understand that.. but chances are you won't find an oversold flight on a longer route like that...
