English HK tourist map. Simplified characters. Dumb.
Walked by the map section of my neighborhood Barnes and Noble. Saw this Periplus (yellow cover with red letters) map of Hong Kong in English (intended for English-reading tourists). It has Chinese place names, but in simplified characters!
For those less familiar with HKSAR reality, 90% of the local population under 65 can read English place names (and tie them with the Chinese equivalents), and all signs are of course in traditional characters.
So if you get lost, and happen to stumble upon a mainland Chinese person who don't read traditional characters, but who speak better English than the HK local and who can help you find places better than the HK local, this map would be really helpful!
Otherwise, don't try to compare the characters on the map with those on signs!
(Well, at least the map has Nam Cheong Station and the KCR West Rail.)
