As their football team is a Town not a City, I guess it might not qualify - but a contender not thusfar mentioned is - Harrogate.

A splendid town with the wonderful Stray - Leeds a few miles south for city shipping, The Dales and Moors on the doorstep to the North for the hills and country dining.

Of course, the house prices are almost barmy - which is why I presently live in Wakefield ....
