I had a nice award c seat to europe this summer but the conference I am attending in euope was pushed up to the first two weeks in july. now no award avaliability, when I tried to change.

First thought I would buy a coach ticket and try the upsell into c.
I am a 1p with few miles saved.

The y fares are currently about 1500.00 on UA.com... various UA/coseshares,
but they are selling Z fares for about 3200.00 which is not that far away
from the Y fare's and the mr. chicken upsales assuming they WILL BE avaliable.
Most flights transit IAD on at least one leg. and are one stops in IAD. The flyer talk community has got me scared of that place!

So Iam thinking maybe 3 grand not so band and I believe these qualify for the 150 % EQM bonus. ( my goal is at least 1k light on all personal trevel.

LX also has z fares in the 3000.00 range out of LAX to ZRH on the SWISS website.

Well. what would you do. wait for a while, see if the z fares drop a bit? pull the trigger now? suggestions of different routing's on *A carriers?
I would like to stay away from Y if I can.
