I was not going to add to this post but I feel that I should correct some incorrect information here provided by another member.
Shareholder, your wording my indeed be correct as I no longer have a pre-2006 u/g certificate. However, I am pretty sure that the the pre-2006 u/g certificates were marked "non-transferrable" even though they may not be in the same sentence as "sold or bartered". That is evident in this post:

I think you selectively chose the wording to support your position. To this end, everyone who bought/sold these u/g certificates on ebay, as well as everyone who transferred/gifted each other here on FT also violated the T&C's. In fact, transfer (whether by way of trade, gift or sale) of an u/g certificate is much more "deleterious" to AP than a mickey-mouse MLL certificate for obvious reasons. So for all you "zero-tolerance" people out there, I for one may have had to pay the price for not getting an upgrade because YOU may have gotten an upgrade just because you got a freebie certificate from another FT'er and you trumped me because you bought a Y/M fare and/or you are SE.
Maybe everyone else here has many frequent flyer friends or just simply snobbish to view ebay as "below their level". Not everyone has friends and family who would fly before Feb 28 2007 (for the 2006 certificates anyway). I agree - if they need these certs, why not just give it to a friend or family member? Perhaps it is either that none of these friends / family members is need of a MLL cert because 1) they are either E/SE, 2) they already have a credit card getting into a lounge, or 3) they are not flying before 28 2007?
So if it is really going to waste anyway, because there is no one to gift them to and let's say if this person did not know of FT, there is really no use hanging onto these. No reasonable newbie, if they did not know of FT, would google for a website to find a way of disposing of them.
