I fully agree with those who have said it is poorly executed. The boarding areas may be designed differently than CO, but it should still be fairly straightforward to figure out how to funnel your elites to the front. With CO, the first boarders, elite, do in fact use the carpet rather than the non-elite line. It doesn't change the speed, but it changes the recognition. The NW management in charge of this program need to fly a few CO flights, then fly some NW flights to see how well they are utilized.
I don't get the recogniton part. The fact that you are being called to board as an elite or fc passenger IS recognition. I guess I am not getting the whole stand on the carpet because it says elite thing. Now, as the email from NW says, when there is a line you can go to the front via the carpet. Great perk and I have used it successfuly a few times. Who would you be getting in front of during pre-board and who would care that you are on the carpet?
