I finally decided I was missing out on a mile earning opportunity, so I applied for one of these accounts online, planning to slowly move my checking account over to the new bank.

I was stunned when they declined my business. I just pulled a credit report after this and my score (according to this one vendor I use) is in 90th+ percentile (score 780 on a scale of 330 to 830). I can't remember ever getting turned down for credit, let alone a checking account.

Has anyone else found it difficult to get one of these accounts? I understand that it likely wouldn't be a money maker for them, as I was planning on using it as a free checking account and just keep enough to use the debit card to earn miles.

Mod, feel free to move this, but since it's a WP card, I figured this would be the right place.

Maybe with the annual fee of $90 I'm better off not being accepted, but it's still somewhat perplexing.
