Internationally, at many airports, the tags "work" and most of the time, the prority bags come off first. Domestically, I've seldom found that to be the case. It probably varies from (arriving) airport to airport. Maybe a good thread would be a list of airports where Priority comes off first, and where it doesn't matter.

I've found BA, SQ and LH to be good about the priority tags on bags.
