Update: the DOT has rejected UA's request for pendente lite authority, i.e. the right to commence service immediately before the route award is final. This does give a very slight hope to the objections from CO and NW.
So we will have to wait until Jan. 30 for UA to launch any fare sales.
The pendente lite authority UA was asking for would have allowed them to market the flights and sell tickets before the DOT final award. They were not asking to commence service earlier (per the U.S.-China bilateral agreement the frequencies are not available until March 25). Jan. 30 is the date answers to objections are due, not the date DOT will issue the final award.
