I've noticed recently a particularly nasty little enhancement to the Shareholder's discount. I'm sure it used to reduce the total amount payable by 10%. However, it now only reduces the fare amount by 10%. The considerable taxes and surcharges are not reduced. Therefore the ACTUAL discount is rather less than 10% - substantially less if you book a cheapo short haul flight.
As an example, I priced up a return in Club to AMS.
Normal price: £224.40 (£153.00 + £72.40)
Shareholder price: : £209.40 (£137.00 + £72.40)
The actual discount is therefore only 6.7%. I am sure this is a new enhancement for 2007 as I have not previously seen this. All my previous flights have been discounted fully by 10%.
