I was delayed over 3 hours sitting in a full DC-10 on the taxiway in THE Detroit snowstorm a couple of years ago. My bags were lost for 2 weeks. I got nothing. I was rejected from the class action because NW could not find a record that I was on the flight and I did not have my boarding pass, a year later. I am still bitter about it, but am glad to hear that others are finding better experiences as NW is being more proactive.
