Cool Bad Premier Exec call center experience great check in service

Sunday (1/21) I was traveling from DSM to IAD via ORD. On the drive to the airport I get an easy update call that my flight had been canceled and that I have already been re-booked for tomorrow morning at 6am. This didn't really work for me, so I called the prem exec number. There was a storm in DSM and ORD and heading for IAD. I expected delays, but not an outright cancel.

Anyway...I call the Prem Exec number and after a short wait ask to be rerouted for the same day--traveling west if I had to. I needed to be in DC early on Monday. I was put on hold for a bit and she told me there were no flights with seats availalbe going anywhere. I stated there had to be some flights available even on another carrier. She went away again, came back and said no. I asked to speak to a supervisor. She went away again and came back and said that I could speak to the the sup if I wanted to, but she had just said she couldn't do anything for me either--this was going from bad to worse...the supervisor wouldn't even get on the phone. So much for the Prem Exec experience.

As I was near the airport by this time I said thanks for the wonderful service, hung up and went inside.

At check in there were a bunch of folks trying to make new arrangements. When I go my chance, the desk agent Rick worked with me to get me into to BWI all on UA by 11pm--so at least I was in the area and could drive down. He didn't say there was nothing he could do and tried several routing options--open to sending me west, north, south etc. Why theh Prem Exex rep couldn't do this is beyond me. The trip did take a long time (I got in at 1:30 am on 1/22) as there were numerous delays, but I expected that with the snow storm. What I didn't expect was the horrible service from the Prem Exex rep. I plan to write in to HQ, though not really expecting much out if it other than the satisfaction of letting them know.
