Convenience. For some reason I originally, and unfortunately, chose my mileage plan # as my User ID. I cannot seem to commit that 8-digit number to memory, and I'm tired of having to find it every time I log in.
For years the MP# was the only way to sign in. Then they made you sign up for a "My Account" I created a log in name and then had a heck of a time remembering it. I was happy when they finally let you start using the MP# again so I didn't have to remember the log in anymore.
