You can use RJ flights for other BF reward itineraries. The problem here seems to be that nobody knows the rules for the RewardOne certificate you want to use.

G is the fare bucket used for a standard economy award, so I find it difficult to imagine that the person you were talking to did not know what it was. I take that to mean you were not talking to the proper person.
