Advice - biz class from JFK to Bali (DPS) for honeymoon
My fiancee and I are trying to plan our trip to Bali, and would like to use some combo of cash/miles to get there business class or at least E+.
We currently have 180K+ UA miles, as well as around 70K on Delta and AA.
Based on what i've leard from this forum so far (which is a lot), I checked ANA for star alliance award availability, and found no award availability for business class outbound (but availability on economy). SQ supposedly has business class return currently available, but have not confirmed with MP.
Currently thinking of:
1. Purchasing a Y class SQ flight on way out and using MP miles to try to upgrade. However, Seatcounter.com lists no I seats available on SQ on the way out. Is this something that is likely to change as the date approaches? In addition, SQ website lists the one-way flexible economy price as $1200. Not sure if this is the same as Y class (required for the upgrade) or worth the money overall.
2. Purchasing E+ on TG, but there is thread on FT about the non-stop flights on TG being cancelled this summer.
3. Purchasing economy roundtrip on NRT-DPS on Japan Air, and using UA to get to Tokyo business class.
I've spent hours and hours over last few days trying to figure this out and feel like i've got a decent start, but would appreciate any suggestions that any of you have, since everyone here seems much more knowledgable than I am (or the MP customer service reps are)
Thanks in advance for help.
