Flying First Class to Dominican Republic from New York?

I'm honeymooning to the Dominican Republic (Cabarete near Puerto Plata).

I'm only considering nonstop flights (otherwise the trip doubles from 4 hours to 8 hours). I've found nonstop flights from the NY area to either POP or STI on the following airlines:
-Continental
-American AIrlines
-Jetblue
-Delta

For standard priced coach tickets they all seem to be around the same price ($500 round trip per person after taxes). However, Continental seems to be offering First Class for the same price as Coach. How is Continental first class compared to AA?

I have 50,000 AA miles and 50,000 UA miles to burn. I was thinking that maybe I could trade someone my UA miles for more AA miles (giving me 100,000 AA miles) or trade both for Continental credits (I don't know the name of their mileage program). OR, I could try to try to trade all my miles towards something I can use for a 5 star hotel stay the night before leaving (after the wedding).

What should I do?
