Could anybody please tell me, on which routes does NWA use them most regularly?! Where do I have the greatest chance to fly one?

And another question: Are there any other airllines in the USA, which fly "classic" aircraft (DC-9/DC-10/B-727,B-737-200, Tristar, ....) regularly?

Thank you very much for your answers.

Christian,

Ah, your post is bringing back memories of some wonderful birds that once flew the skies!

The last DC-10 has already made it's last revenue, scheduled flight with NWA, but you're in luck with the DC-9's -- NW has plenty of them operating routes in the midwest and east coast.

You'll find the DC-9 is operated in a lot of markets out of Detroit as well as Minneapolis. What cities do you plan on visiting? I'm sure it would be quite easy to get a DC-9 flight in a good number of markets -- even if it's just a quick jump from Chicago O'Hare to Detroit.

We currently have DC-9 service here at SDF (Louisville) and I don't see that going away anytime soon in the near future. On the SDF-MSP and SDF-DTW (and vice-versa) routes there are some DC-9's mixed in with some CRJ's. Best bet is to name a city you want to visit or will be visiting and see if it has DC-9 service --- if not, see if you can get a cheap return ticket or a ticket to your next point on NW using a DC-9 schedule.

737-200: As other's have said, you'll find Aloha is operating these birds on it's intra-Hawaiian flights while it's rival Hawaiian operates 717s.

As for the 727-200, Champion Air or some type of charter is probably your best bet. I haven't been on one of these in a couple of years now and miss em'.

TriStar L1011 - no scheduled passennger service. I'm not sure if ATA still has a few on hand for charters they do to the Hawaiian islands. The L1011 is a bird I really do miss - even made my first flight to Germany in an L1011

Not sure what your feelings are on the A300, but American Airlines operates a # of these on the east coast to MIA, SJU, and other points in the Caribbean.
