You should have no problem with having a stopover in RAR on the outbound. On award tickets, you are allowed one stopover in either direction. It may take some time to get the right agent to help you. I can tell you this from personal experience. A year and a half ago, I booked ATL-SFO-SIN (stopover)-HKT-BKK-KIX-SFO-ATL. It took a while to get it booked as it wound up being a Star Alliance Award with travel on UA, SQ, and TG.

Patience will help you get it booked. If you don't like your first answer, try calling back until you get someone who sounds like they know what they're doing.
