I believe that Northwest used to have a (unwritten?) policy that Asia Gold/Platinum members would get complimentary upgrades to WBC when traveling on coach tickets on intra-asia flights. These upgrades were done at the gate on a space available basis. I'm not sure if this is still their policy. I do know the poicy for North American upgrades for Asia elite card members is the same as for all other elite members.

One other thing, if you change your address to Singapore you will not be eligible for many deals that Northwest has for U.S. residents only - like the current mileage mania promotion.
