Thanks to you all for your advice. Old Kyoto and Time Out Tokyo arrived today from Amazon.

I was quite relieved to see that Old Kyoto is actually a tiny bit smaller than Time Out, it does have black and white photos in it but it's not by any means a coffee table book. (abmj-jr warned about the large size of "7 paths") This version is 2005 and will fit well into a suitcase.
