booked my parents for coach trip using NWA miles to fly Contl (IAH-HNL).

here's what i found weird: called everyday for awhile, no availability whatsoever (i was calling 330 days out each time). then, got lucky on a Friday flight. agent told me huge availability. i locked the outbound flight. i knew they wanted to stay about a week, but just to check return availability, i called everyday just to see if return dates would be a problem. day after day, no availability on the return. started to think i'd have to cancel the outbound reservation and try again as i wasn't haveing any luck. then, miraculously, the Saturday flight (8 days after arrival) had plenty of seats.

i just think it's odd that i couldn't nab a weekday seat (parents are teachers, they're indifferent to when they go) either way, but the weekend seats were easy to grab. wouldn't most paying people take a weekend flight, all things being considered, at least one way, thus releasing these seats before weekday flights be somewhat counterproductive?
