Supposedly with some lounges/carriers you have to have the physical card. Status on a boarding card won't cut it. You'll definitely want to get your card ASAP.
Red Carpet Clubs's in the US now scan your card for entry into the lounge. An agent in SFO told me last week the BP is not enough.
Countering that the US Airways Club in PHX didn't need to see the card, they said the BP was enough.
