Add me to the list of recent x60 buyers.
I LOVED my x31 and was a bit scared that I'd be disappointed with the upgrade.
I will say that I'm not as in love with the x60 as I was with the x31, but it might just be that it takes time to settle in.
But that said, I'm perfectly happy and very pleased with quality so far.
I do find some of the preinstall software kind of hinky though. I've been removing it one piece at a time and I keep promising myself I'll format it and do a cold reinstall of only what I want, but haven't gotten around to it in the 4 months I've had it.
(That's what I usually do with new machines - then just make an image and can always recover or simply do "spring cleaning" whenever I want.)
One tip about buying is something I stumbled on by accident.
I called to ask a question and got a salesman who offered me a better deal if I would buy through him. We spec'ed out a machine and I thought about it for a day or two, then pulled the trigger. I saved about $200 of the website price.
Another thing I notced when he sent the invoice was that when he spec'ed it out, he actually had to add each component one at a time. Body, hard drive, memory, OS, etc...
I didn't know he was doing it until after the purchase, so I didn't ask at the time, but it occurs to me that perhaps he could have left some of those things off. I would definitely be interested in putting in memory, HDD and OS separately.
I may call back to buy one for a friend, in which case I'm going to ask about doing that. (And I'll post here if it works.)
Definite ^ to the Thinkpads though- even in the Lenovo era.
