In some places (like Bangkok), its easier to go down to a street stall and buy a new rollaboard for like $10 than to mess with carrying one over. It might not last more than that one trip home, but that's really all I need!
I usually show up to my tailor on my last night there with the roller and he and his staff carefully pack everything I've bought inside - I've usually gotten home and everything went straight into my closet with no wrinkes!
