Second, as a PL, you know that you can always ask the FAs on the cart blocking the aisle to move....and they will. If it's that urgent for you to use the lav, always ask first! never just assume.
Kudos to the crew for enforcing the TSA Directive. Be thankful there wasn't an FAA Inspector onboard.....you could have endured a $Fine as well for not following Instructions.
As silly as it may be, contact your Congressman about it. They are the ones who can make the change.
Yes there are many people who cross cabins and aren't called out on it. Apparently, this FA is on the ball and enforces the TSA Directives....as does the Captain.
As far as going into another cabin, it is bad etiquette.
At least most international carriers have curtains between their cabins.
Could you please point me to a copy of the TSA Directive? I would be interested in reading it. I get the impression the directive is similar to the "ID" requirement aka "SSI" or a "secret security directive".
The OP should have politely asked the FA to move the cart for use of the lav.
I believe having a word with the passengers is more than sufficient; getting the Pilot and the CPD involved is just a blatent waste of resources, money, and time.
While the story may seem far-fetched, there isn't much that surprises me these days and I don't have any reason to doubt it based on the 'paranoia level' here in the states.
