I personally think this situation, if true, was overblown. Who honestly cares? Sure, this may an AA rule, but that also means that it's at their discretion to enforce. What poor customer service to deny someone access to an empty restroom when the other was unavailable (and then to make this big of a deal out of it).
One thing I really care about is the flight announcements where airline employees keep saying this is a federal law, tsa rule, faa regulation, etc.
It is NONE of these and to state otherwise is a lie.
There is NO security policy that prohibits someone from using any lav they want. Terrorists can buy first class tickets. Bombs can be put together in the rear lav, etc...
