Just be aware that with with two separate tickets, if there is a delay on the first sector MNL-BKK, THAI will have no legal obligation to assist you if you miss your subsequent flight BKK-DEL. If you had booked MNL-(BKK)-DEL on one ticket, then any delays at an intermediate point (BKK) would be the responsibility of the carrier ie hotel and mony for food etc.

I had considered the risk of the two ticket issue; but they have a place in BKK, and the alternative would be more expensive, given the cost of a one-way or roundtrip between MNL and DEL via BKK. (They'll be accompanying people who have single tickets for MNL-BKK-DEL and if the flight is late into BKK, they'll all be in the same boat in terms of seeking alternatives.)
