So, I've probably traveled on 5-8 Bonus Travel Tickets (the ones you get when you're bumped) throughout my flying career with AS. Although, I'm annoyed by the fact that I don't get miles for the flights, I do enjoy the free trip. During those past trips, I've been told that the only upgrade options are either a 10,000 OW mileage upgrade or a day-of paid upgrade. However, tonight, while I was making a reservation for my last Bonus Travel Ticket, I queried the agent about the upgrade options and she informed me that I could get a complementary MVP upgrade (48 hours prior to flight). Is this a new policy? I checked my reservation online and it says that I'm on the waiting list for my three flights. That's exciting if it's a new policy. Otherwise, I had a pretty good agent who got me on "the list."
