not saying you are wrong, but did you call or did you just check on EF? For some reason the wonderful EXP agent was able to get me a seat in F when EF was showing big fat zero availibility.
I checked EF and AA.com. Its probably worth a call though. Maybe they will give me U space on the DFW-SCL flights.
