You can do it on-line @ nwa.com 24 hours prior to departure and no later than 90 minutes prior to departure. You can change your seat, flight and FF#.

I've been able to get exit row seats (they are CLEARLY marked) and upgrades to first checking in this way. They also open up all of the seating too so you can get a better coach seat if all of the exit rows are taken.
