You CERTAINLY can pay £50 at check-in at Gatwick to upgrade to Club Europe, if there are seats. However, I'm not sure if you're allowed lounge access if you do this.

I have a booking to BLQ for Feb, and this morning MMB had an option to upgrade to CE for £50, but now its gone... (although checking availability in CE, it has not changed, and flight seems empty).

By the way, do they offer the £50 at the airport on flight to LGW, as well as from LGW?
