Y booking class or Y cabin? If it's Y booking class, then things should be wide open for you, and the price shouldn't be more than a few bucks more than an itinerary with minimal connections.

A really easy way to find appropriate routings is to search in ITA. In your case, if you were buying Y fare bucket tix, you could type in:

From: SFO::ua ua ua ua ua /f bc=y
To: DFW::ua ua ua ua ua /f bc=y

this specifies that you are looking for flights in the Y fare bucket and are looking for five segments (4 transfers) in each direction

and you'd get a list of five segment routing options. It's not comprehensive - there may be other more lucrative routings available that don't get flagged by ITA, but it's a good start.
