I am from San Jose and used my unlocked GSM phone from Asia. I also didn't sign a 2 year contract and instead opted for a 1 year contract (they push that less). I got my contract at the Cingular Store in Valley Fair mall. I guess it helps that I am friends with the guy who works there. PM me if you would like his name.
