You were in the "Tempo Challenge" cabin, ie full-fare economy. Very little difference at the time of your flight : a hot towel and, more important, the middle seat replaced by a tray.
The alignment between the cabins and non-AF fares can be tricky. The differences between the standard fares for each cabin can be summarized quickly, for medium-haul flights (European and North African destinations, plus some remaining middle East destinations such as TLV; short-haul is French domestic flights) :
- L'Espace Affaires : business class, flights can be changed without penalty to another AF flight, tickets can be endorsed to another airline, pre-take off Champagne or hot towel at time of breakfast, improved wines for flights over 2h55, and free middle seat
- Tempo Challenge : full fare economy, flights can be changed without penalty to another AF flights but not to another airline, catering is the same as business class, with the above restrictions
- Tempo : discounted economy, sometimes modifiable for a fee, up to the advanced purchase date, usually not
But then, you have restricted fares and company fares, whereby a business class ticket can cost less than a Tempo Challenge ticket ... nothing special here, just the standard complexity of air fares.
