  • One Bedroom suite

1.) What are the room differences, e.g. Sala Terrace Room vs Pool View Room (what is a "sala")?

2.) What kind of upgrade does the hotel typically give to Gold members?
A sala is somewhat similar to a "pergola", usually a roofed space without solid walls, just posts for support. But can be applied to most garden variety "follies". In my recollection, all of the rooms on the hotel side are identical with the exception of the end suites (those of which on the ground floor were inundated by the Tsunami). Each room has a section with day loungers and I believe Marriott is calling this particular space within the room a "sala".

My advice is reserve the cheapest room, contact the hotel and state your room preference, as far as floor and proximity to spa, pool or other area.

I was just told 2 weeks ago at the resort that hotel guests do have to pay for in room internet access.
