I earned points on an Alaska flight--actually two flights--that were credited to my challenge. The flights were codeshares; I bought the tickets on aa.com. I did this last year, so if the rules have changed on January 1, then my experience wouldn't be relevant. Of course Alaska is not part of OW, but I imagine if it works for Alaksa, it has to work for OW too.
