One of my rate plans is an old AT&T Wireless plan that's now with Cingular. Its way past the 2-year lock-in period. I am looking to roll it in to my primary line and make this an additional line.

I have my own quad band phones that I am perfectly happy with.

I checked with Cingular if I can get an additional line on my primary and use my own quad band phone. The answer is no, i need to buy another phone instrument from them.

Anyway to get around this nonsense? Why can't I use my own phone when adding a second line to my existing rate plan
