Well, I'm here safe and sound after a truly outstanding 9W flight. I was met by 2 staff of the Taj for my WAY overpriced transfer - won't do that again, though the car was nice and the driver was informative.
I got dropped at the Taj Towers and they took my passport info, etc. It was a bit confusing, but I then had to go and register again in the Palace wing. Apparently I got a free upgrade! Well, I haven't seen the bill, so maybe it's not free, but I'm pretty sure

. I was a tad disappointed at the pool view until I went for a walk along the water - it's LOUD! This room, on an entire non-smoking floor, should be very quiet.
I haven't had any issues with the service. Noone has tried to put a dot on my forehead (though someone did by India Gate - is that OK?), and they don't hang around waiting for tips (see new thread!). Everyone speaks great English and they are VERY well informed about the local area and the history of the hotel.
I am glad about moving to the Palace. Maybe in the room it makes no difference, but just go outside and look at the 2. It's that feel good factor

.
I had room service for dinner while I finished my prep for tomorrow. I asked for something Indian and really unique to the area or hotel. It was a pretty standard (though expensive) lamb rogan josh. I'll be more adventurous tomorrow night, though I'm not sure about going alone to a Mumbai restaurant. Unfortunately I missed the High Tea buffet. I looked in and the buffet food looked very varied and interesting, all for just Rs650!
The gym here is quite good, with a range of aerobic equipment, dumbbells, barbells, and many machines. There's a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna, but I can get that by going outside! The pool is amazing looking. I can't believe I didn't bring my goggles. I could get a proper swim workout down the middle of the pool (25m or close to it).
As you can tell, there is internet, but definitely not free

. Rs600+tax per day.
Let me know if you have any questions (or want to meet for dinner/drinks!)
Thanks,
Dr. PITUK
