I think this is why they provide those spindly blue footcovers in the World Business Class amenity sachel (and before covering the foot, you can brush the toes with Colgate).

In coach on the A330 (at least in row 10) this is why the AVOD comes attached to such a heavy, thick, flexible stick.

In domestic First Class this is why the armrest opens up and out.
