When departing Tokyo for Taipei in December '99 on a revenue ticket, I quickly noticed my WBC seat had no power to the reading light, headset, or monitor. In fact it was the same for all of the seats on my side of the aisle: 1A/1B through 5A/5B. No one else complained as they were all asleep having probably been passengers coming from the States.
A polite complaint to the head flight attendant resulted in an apology, a seat in the next WBC cabin with all systems operating, and an unrequested gift of unopened bottles of Shiraz and champagne.
The value of the compensation was less than 10,000 miles, but the smile and courtesy remain one of the high points in my experience with NW.
