BA charge much more for flexible tickets and want to encourage sales of these. If people know that that they will be able to flex a non-flexible ticket, they won't pay the premium which will cost BA money. As you say, it's up to BA - not me.
I would be happy to pay a reasonable change fee but what I was asked for was full fare PLUS a £30 change fee. BTW - would I have had to pay a change fee if I had a fully flexible ticket?
