Maybe booking one way flights is the key.
I think booking a trip with just single flights (as opposed to connecting flights) is fairly safe using the online tool. Assuming that you booked AMS-SIN with KLM. An easy way to check if everything is ok is to use www.checkmytrip.com using the PNR of both flights.
